If they stay healthy they won't lose 6 games all year.

Nope. Not delusional. Your delusional if you think they will only lose six games. This past playoffs showed that GSW loses when it counts most. They lost more in the Playoffs than in the regular season. The Spurs, OKC, or the Blazers will take them out. Their game plan to shoot non-stop 3's was figured out. Durant leaves after a year with GSW and goes back to OKC.

...they won the Finals the year before on that same system, they just added Durant to replace Barnes, and they lost in Game 7 of the Finals thanks to monster efforts by LeBron and Kyrie. The Spurs are their only real competition in the West and they traded in Duncan for Gasol, a great guy for their system offensively but not defensively.

Don't have to like them (most don't), I expect them to lose more games in the regular season this year than last, but it's a bit much to think they've gotten worse - I mean, I kept hoping the Heat would keep faltering after their first Finals loss to the Mavs, but that's just not reality.

It's being reported Westbrook will sign an extension with Thunder tomorrow. Finally, some good news for OKC fans.

Signed for what amounts to be a one year extension, and the cynical can point to it being a move just to reach 10 years of service time so he can cash in fully come 2018. But at least next season the Thunder bought themselves some time to pull it together, and they won't be plagued with will-they/won't-they, so that's a pretty big win.

True, I think that's the big thing. It gives management a year to try and get a big free agent via trade(or next summer), or at the very least some additional outside shooting, which will likely plague them this year. If the Thunder can get back in to contention, then they, at the very least, position themselves to be in the conversation when he cashes in 2018-19.

Regardless of any mitigating details it's still huge for a small market team. If he plays his whole career in OKC there is a good chance they will be commissioning a Russ statue.

Plus if they feel like he's going to jump ship they will get more via trade than the pennies on the dollar they would have got otherwise. No GM is going to give up any worthwhile assets for a one season rental but if they feel like they got a season and a year to convince Russ that they are headed in the right direction, said GM might take a flyer and put their chips on the table. Presti is smart, he's not going to let the KD situation happen twice on his watch.
