I had a deal on two prints that were described as near mint. I open the tube, both prints are face to face with no kraft and there are various tape marks (torn paper) and creases throughout the prints. I was also invoiced for customs as the prints were insured. I would happily eat the cost of the insurance and handling if the prints were in the described condition. However, I feel screwed because the sender insured damaged prints. The seller profited handsomely from the sale and again, were the prints in the described condition, I would have no issue with any of this.
I have tried to resolve this amicably however, the seller is now ignoring the situation. His excuses were, "they looked near mint in the frame... my friend packed the tube so I didn't know they were damaged..." etc. His resolution was "I'll give you $30 back" which doesn't even cover the handling charges I paid for customs. I payed paypal goods and am approaching the 45 day window. I assume I will have to contact the gov't to try to get my customs and brokerage charges back.
Any advice?
