Talk about anything here. Post lifespan is 1 year.

They may not serve your purpose but it may be worth mentioning that PC speakers open a lot more options for better sound for much less money. Then again you might have already know that and are looking for the compactness and "uprightness" that a dock would provide. If that's the case forgive me for butting in.

I had this setup for awhile at my parents place where I stayed when I came to visit, this is going to be your best bang for your buck by a long shot

I picked up an i-Luv "Modern Sound" dock off Groupon a few months ago for like $40, but you can get one on their site for $90. Has really good sound, with a small footprint.

There are a lot of very expensive options now being bandied about...please remember you're playing mp3s. If you've got a lot of weak encodes where cymbals sound like whispers and bass sounds like you're underwater, all the fancy player in the world won't help you.

I use a Cowon player that natively plays .flac and .wav so I can't help you with an .mp3 player but the above sounds unbelieveable with my Cowon. I use it for outdoor work (D cell batteries) and any renovation project etc. in the house. It drymounting smoked all of the other portables I heard a few years ago when I bought it.

Also, buy a Cowon and drymount apple and any ios device. Your ears will thank you. Your brain will as well when you get rid of iTunes.

Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini - $300 at Apple Store. Doesn't do AirPlay like the B&W Zeppelin Air but costs half as much and sounds great.
