I'd be happy just to try normal mexicans cake, but this variant takes thecake. But no way in hell am I paying 200 bones for a beer. Even split 4 ways at 50 bucks is still INSANE. I love me a good beer and will pay a decent penny for one, but good lowrd!jlabbate wrote:Introducing 2016 Barrel Aged Mexican Cake Reserva. MN's first all sour brewery is opening up in a few weeks - Starkeller Brewing company. Previously the whole line of starkeller beers were made under Schell's brewing but they decided to make the sour facility a whole new brewery. Pretty excited for them to start putting out more frequent releases - all aged in cypress foeders from 1936.
Had this stunner last night:
Crafted over the course of two years, Harmony of Spheres began with a mixed primary fermentation of lactobacillus, brettanomyces, and saccromyces. After aging for almost 12 months in an 80 year-old cypress wood lagering tank, the brew was then re-fermented over gooseberries, allowing the character of this unusual fruit to impart unique lemon and lime flavors. Following this extended secondary aging, Harmony of Spheres was dry hopped with Lemondrop hops to further accentuate the beer’s bright citrus character.
