Beer - trading & discussion
No, don't be sorry! Appreciate the insight. I've got a good basement closet that stays nice and cool, so I have a good spot to keep things. Not much there yet, just some KBS from this year and some Bigfoot from last year. I was just curious about everyone's opinion since, like I said, I'd never had it before. taylorph touched on it possibly being "hot" which is what I was thinking about when I asked the question, I just didn't phrase it clearly. Still haven't gotten a second one yet, so I'll have to wait and see for a comparisonmistersmith wrote:They wouldn't bottle it if it wasn't ready. But malty boozy beers, especially bourbon barrel beers, definitely last just fine over time, usually develop a little bit, and sometimes even improve. Parabola specifically, I've had five-year verticals of it and it was awesome, so, as long as it ages right (cool, dark) you're fine. I have Firestone Walker barrel aged stuff dating back as old as 4 years and I'm not worried about it yet. But it's time to start popping I guess.agr719 wrote:Parabola...Is that one pretty good fresh, or does it need to sit?
Sorry if that's too elementary. Didn't mean it like that.

Had a great day today. Went up north and hit up Hill Farmstead for the first time ever. Place is awesome. Love the vibe up there, and the beer is top notch. Also ended up hitting up Lost Nation (which is tiny and it was packed...we had one beer there and left), then we hit up Rock Art for a quick flight. Went to Alchemist and hung out there and had some samples. Then we went to Prohibition Pig for food and went to Craft Beer Cellar and made an awesome 4 pack of some Burlington Beer Company. Great day all around. A little expensive, but I hit for $50 on a Vermont lottery ticket so it wasn't that bad at all.
