The winters here get long and we get bored easy so this is how we have fun. This was last year's race. Yes it's on a frozen lake.

I did that 2 weekends ago in Ontario. Pretty cool stuff. Managed to pass a dude in the first race and came last in the second. I was the only doing it for the first time along with the buddy.

Can't recall if I ever posted a picture of my black gmc sonoma (same thing as an S10), it's a 97 4.3 V6 5spd (pretty rare combo) factory zq8 sport suspension, factory locking differential (now a 3.73 truetrac) and fully loaded. Went to Nevada to buy it with only 23k miles on it. Today has 26k miles. A lot was already done to it, but I found myself redoing the suspension, down sizing to a 17/18" combo from the ridiculous 20" wheels it had, and fixing some odds and ends. I've driven it as is as a fun toy for the past year and half and now I'm excited because I just bought the first part of my planned 6.0 liter & T56 6 speed swap. Found a used CTSV T56 already modded to the forward shifter position that will fit my factory shift location. Next up trying to source a Gen 3 LQ4 or LQ9 6.0 liter, slip a nice medium sized cam in for some good torque and street driving, I just need to decide if I'm going with the aluminum block motor for better handling, or whether I want to go with the iron block for some future forced induction . Amusingly enough I found the exact same goddamn truck (97 4.3/5spd/zq8/stepside) in grandma light blue with 234k miles. Surprisingly it runs really good despite that mileage, pretty quick, gets good gas mileage with the stock 3.08 rear end, only issues is that after 234k miles the 2nd gear and reverse synchros are shot, I have to turn the thing off to get it into reverse and then turn it back on sometimes :D . I bought it for $1000 for two purposes, one I have a place to swap the black trucks 26k drive train into, and two, it'll help me with those pesky smog rules :)

Nice truck

I had an 89 s-10 4.3 lowered and shaved that I drove around for a couple of years. I love small trucks...good gas mileage and still really useful to throw stuff in the back

LQ4 with a cam swap. LQ9 is a little harder to find as well as paying a premium because there were only a limited production run. But and LS1 block would be nice. About a 100 lbs in weight savings with that.

problem is all the LS1s i find locally the guys are asking $2000-3000. Can get a LQ4 for half that. But yes, I'm likely never going forced induction so an aluminum block is appealing.
