No need to stop someone else from buying what they like.

It's not stopping anyone, I like more people reading comics but dislike the economics around variants and their contribution to the big crashes in the 90's. Retailers hurt in the end by getting shorted because of all the different versions.

Though the dips also had to do with overvaluation of modern titles and thinking every comic is somehow valuable.

Ultimate is a decent place to start, you get all the major players. New X-men and Astonishing are among the best of the modern runs.

Definitely the best thing to come out of superhero comics in my lifetime. Here Comes Tomorrow still gives me goosebumps.

Dunno if there are many omnibus fans/collectors on here, but Marvel dropped a Dr. Strange omnibus in anticipation of the upcoming movie this week.

I dig the omnibuses. That's cool they're doing the Dr Strange.

Anyone have any comics blogs they'd recommend? I enjoy Longbox Graveyard and The Unspoken Decade but I'd like to add another to the rotation.

Wizard was fun. I remember when I was real young in the early 90's I used to get Comic Buyers Guide in the mail which was like an actual newspaper (this was way before it was a glossy mag). Half of it was always over my head at that age but I still read every one I got cover to cover. I never had money so it felt wildly extravagant every time an issue showed up.

Thanks for the site recommendation.

I like this guy, although he hasn't been posting that much recently. He pretty much only talks about omnibus, OHC's and other collection-related releases though.

Huge Greg Capullo Fan, as his art on Batman inspired me to start reading comics in the first place.

He and Mark Millar just released issue one of Reborn today, and     Wow does it show some promise. Artwork is obviously spectacular, but the story looks truly amazing as well. High recommended.

Jock also did a variant cover. Just sharing for fun.
