Ok... You asked. I gave an answer. You gave snide response. Next time I'll know better. Glad we had this conversation.

What? Snide? You're way too sensitive.

Edit to add: I was simply pointing out that most everyone uses wood frames and aren't going to stop using them because of fumes. Wood cabinet/wood frames. Same-same, but different.

He's just forgotten where he is. Thanksgiving must have softened him up.

Metal flatfile or gtfo! I need to be able to slide those 24x36's in side by side in the same drawer with extra room to spare!

I envy you guys with large homes. Not because of flat file size...only once, have I lived in a house with more than 4 rooms. It always seemed silly of me to buy big, since I no longer have kids around.

Want to now what is much worse than the wood in a picture frame? Light! So if you want it to last forever, don't frame it and keep it in the dark forever. If you want to see it and have it last forever, well then scan and print a copy and frame that. Oh, and make sure the print is stored in a metal cabinet, in the dark, in a temperature and humidity controlled room.

Or just take a few precautions and assume the print will last until you are gone and your children forgot about it. Or worst case the minor change in color will not be perceptible to anyone unless they can do a side by side comparison with a perfectly stored original. :D

Or do something in between. Everyone has to figure out what works for them.

Cheers,
Mark

mfaith, I see you are not far from Dallas. If you ever make it up here let me know, can buy you lunch and give a tour of our production facility. Same goes for other Eb'ers in the neighborhood.

Cheers,
Mark

Very cool, I didn't know you were in Dallas. I actually grew up there. :pint: Thanks for the invite.

The Martha Stewart flat file arrived today in three large boxes, inside which I assume are a million pieces.

I see a lot of swearing, beer and temporary regret in my near future...or the usual.

Yeah. I remember building mine. It was heavy and annoying and one of the drawers was broken, so after I finally got it done, I still wasn't actually done. It's still standing though, so I must have done something right.
