Curious...

Talk about anything here. Post lifespan is 1 year.

Lets say there is a member here who seems to be in general good standing, people seem to like him, enjoy his posts, mention that he is a good guy, don't really have any complaints against him. Now suppose this person took a Shepard Fairey Progress unsigned / un-numbered paster (that he has pictures of here and he described how he obtained it in another thread) and faked the signature and number on it and listed it on ebay as a signed / numbered original "silkscreen" and sold it to me for $2750. Lets say I immediately recognized it as a fake and filed a claim on paypal that he then disputed. Lets say that paypal then asked me to provide proof that it was a fake from a third party (appraiser) that I had to pay $560 for and then just before the deadline for me to provide such proof (after the check had been written for the appraisal), the seller (perhaps finally understanding the potential karma of the actions that he has set forth ) then agrees to accept the terms of the claim / refund. Now keep in mind he could have agreed to these terms long before I had to shell out $560 to have this worthless piece of paper appraised ( ebay sale was on Dec. 11, and agreement to terms of refund were in early February |). In the meantime the seller first hid his ebay feedback, and then his ebay account was shut down.

So I'm curious. Do I expose this fraud here at EB even though he is in good standing (albeit his membership is less than 6 months old), and prevent any further dishonest, COSTLY fraud from being perpetrated, or do I let it slide and just be glad that I got the majority of my original investment back in the end.

Flame me for having very few posts if you must, but thank you in advance for any insight.

he needs to be outed before anyone else relies on his 'good standing' and gets hosed

Who deserves the R2D2 cookie jar more? The Star Wars fan, or the Cookie Jar nut?

i don't see a 12-11 sale in the price history, unless this is the 12-4 sale

I would feel no remorse for outing this member.

Wow if its the one from 12-4 I know exactly who that is

He has been here for more than 6 months unless he is using another ID

His ebay account is current

Wow I do too, I hope this was some type of mistake. I hope he comes on the thread to clear this up, he has definitely been a member for longer than six months. Lets not jump to conclusions though I have a hard time believing this was not a mix up somehow.
