Mars Williams, saxophone player for The Psychedelic Furs has died.
Sad. 1955-2023.
You guys know that sound.
Basically with them since ‘83.
They took a ton of time off in the middle…
Got to chat with him a bunch… he was so nice to fans and crew. Huge loss for The Furs Family.
He was a big part of everything.
Damn it.

I discovered H.R. Pufnstuf as a teenager in the really 90's, if I recall correctly I found a VHS tape in the discount bin at a cost plus. Even though it was a kids show, I was thoroughly entertained as a teenager, those puppets are trippy af. I met Marty at designer con one year a while back. He signed my enik and sleestak pops. I think I was the only person at the time asking him to do so. What a genuinely nice guy. We chatted for a solid ten minutes, I can't remember what we talked about but what really stands out was just how happy he was to be talking to me about it. He had a real genuine intensity that was abundantly clear in that small interaction we had.

I tried chatting up shag when he signed a few things for me at the same con and that was the complete opposite experience, I'm pretty sure it was on the same day and not long after I met Marty so the difference in how that played out was instantly solidified in my memory 😂 Come to think of it, I've tried chatting up shag a few different times, maybe he just doesn't like me. Jermaine Rogers on the other hand would often invite me back to talk prints when he wasn't in the middle of serving a 75 person line of rabid toy buyers. I love flipping though his gargantuan stacks of prints with him. He has lots of stories to tell. Jermaine has a bit of a cynical edge to him (who would have thought) but his intensity and dedication to his craft aligns with what I came to find out about Marty.

RIP

Jerry and Kimmock doing Pouges Weather.

Jerry would call the Oregon winter weather Pouge’s Weather. For a long period he would start his mornings with a Pouges record, coffee and cigarettes. Staying indoors and writing some of my absolute favorite songs - late 90’s / early 00’s.
The upcoming storm just rolled in.
Started raining right as I read about MacGowan passing.
RIP.
