Coffee / Expresso Machine Recs

Talk about anything here. Post lifespan is 1 year.

Hey freaks.

What's the word on a two in one coffee / expresso machine.

I currently have a kureig just for coffee. Going to upgrade.

Would like a two in one machine with expresso but i saw all the Nespresso machines don't have the refillable cups for your own coffee so that's a turn off.

Can anyone help a brother out?

A machine that does both will give you mediocre versions of both.

I would buy a grinder and an espresso machine, then look to a Chemex or Hario V60 to do pourovers for regular coffee, or a french press if you're feeling too lazy to do pourovers.

I never could get pourover to work for me. I really wanted it to, and I almost got it there, but I couldn't get past the taste of the bloody paper filter :hanging: I've used a stainless steel filter in my drip machine for so long, even doing the recommended rinsing in advance, I could still taste the paper. I tried Kalita Wave, which has a paper filter, and then this cone-shaped stainless steel pour-over maker, which didn't require a filter at all. The stainless steel cone-shaped one had promise, but the cone shape caused the grounds to get clogged, and slowed it down so much that by the time I had a cup-ful, it was lukewarm at best. Tasted nice, but cold :-(. So yeah, I really wanted it to work for me, but couldn't find the right mix.
May revisit it again at some point, to see if they've come out with anything that'll work for me.

@alittle: what do you recommend for espresso machine?

Breville BES870XL Barista Express Espresso Machine
My wife was a barista for like 10 years and we have this one at home and its like having a coffee shop grade espresso machine at home. If you end up going for something larger like this, its amazing.

Picked up one of these brand new off of Craigslist a few months ago for a quarter of the price: https://www.amazon.com/Gaggia-Automatic ... B003XV31IG
