I borrowed one from a buddy for a few weeks to see how we would like it and it was way more trouble than it was worth. Messed with my stereo cables and got places I didn't want it to go. Got stuck A LOT. Give it a few more years...

Have a friend who inherited a cat and uses teh roomba daily to clean up cat hair/litter/etc on a rug thats right next to teh litter box. Thinks that's literally all he uses it for.

Then we have the stories of a dog that fudge on the floor and the roomba literally smearing the fudge everywhere.

I bought one and tried it for a few days before bringing it back to the store. It's fudge, even when it does not smear dog fudge all over the place.

I have two large English Labs and they shed like crazy. Been on the fence about the pet one for a while but didn't take the plunge due to the price. These comments are helpful.

Except for Codeblue, which is to be expected. ;)

Lies are a funny thing. They slip through your fingertips because they never happened to you. Time wounds all the heals as we fade out of view

I have had a Roomba 880 for 5 yrs now (I think it’s the 880, it’s whatever was advertised as the pet one). Absolutely recommend it.

*If you have black rugs/carpets/mats/etc, the sensors will give you problems. We only run ours on the first floor, so there is no possibility of it falling down the stairs, but we do have some black rugs, and the bottom of the Roomba has a handful of sensors that reads the black rugs as “falling” so it stops the Roomba dead unless you cover up/dismantle the sensors. If you have no black on your floors, not a problem. If you have no chance of it falling down a staircase and you have black rugs/carpet/mats, it’s a mild annoyance, but if you have both black flooring and a reasonable expectation that it might fall down some stairs, you might have a headache. Not sure if any other brands have that issue.
