“Toronto police now say the Banksy artwork that was reported stolen is a $45,000 piece called Trolley Hunters.

Const. Jenifferjit Sidhu, a spokesperson for the force, provided more details about the alleged theft on Thursday morning.

Sidhu says police in 11 Division are looking into the possibility that a Sunday break and enter led to the artwork being taken, although she declined to say where that incident took place.”

Also wouldn't be surprised if it was Banksy stealing his own work.

My first thought as well. They just happened to have another framed copy ready to display? Why take that piece when there were other pieces that were more valuable and probably easier to get out? If you are taking such a risk wouldnt you maximize your return? If you loved this image so much, the b/w edition which hung below it would have been much easier. I think a ladder would have been needed to get the color one off the wall (assuming it was in the same spot it was in for the exhibit). It all seems fishy

Would’ve been hilarious if the guy was thinking, ”screw it, I’ll take a Grannies, too, while I’m at it.”

Thought about that too, after all the exhibit was "not sanctioned by the reclusive artist"

and it wouldn't it be right in line with the irony of his work or life imitating art or art imitating life, etc, etc
