noticed that the last time I sent a payment to a fellow collector that the user interface in paypal has changed. you now have to OPT-IN to buyer protection. friends and family is now the default meaning no address info is sent , no fees on either end, and most importantly there is no protection. pretty sure it applies only to private transactions like those that we all often engage in and not to transactions using embedded paypal buttons.

This is default for Individual accounts.

Purchase Protection enabled on eligible purchases
Limitations apply. The seller pays a fee for this payment (there’s no fee for you).

Business you get this

Pay for goods or services
No fee for you. The recipient pays a fee.
Eligible purchases covered by Purchase Protection.

Send to friends and family
No fee when you use your bank or balance to send USD in the U.S.

Make a mass payment
Pay up to 5,000 people at a time, with no monthly fee.

individual accounts now default to friends and family type payment. you have to check the box for buyer protection don't check the box you get nothing.
