Indeed :pint:

I'm not sure how much of the NYC contingent meet up for events and stuff, but I thought it would be cool/fun to meet up with some of you for pizza and beer somewhere. Our schedule is gonna be pretty tight, but we've got the whole evening of Wednesday, May 16th free if people are open to hang.

Where would be a good place to do this? (Preferably somewhere that isn't too difficult to get to from the Lower East Side area -- staying super close to The Metrograph -- but somewhere convenient for residents to get to.) I think I'm right across the bridge from Bottleneck. Maybe somewhere near there?

Got Motorino and Pies & Thighs nearby to Bottleneck. But happy to fit something around the LES. Just bug when you get here. :pint:

RottenAtom wrote:Anybody have any recommendations on bakeries? Looking for good black & white cookies, babkas, bagels, and bialis (or any other goodies I oughta try).

Junior's Cheesecake - Best In the City
Dominique Ansel Bakery - Creator of the Cronut and has some other amazing pasteries as well
Pommes Frites - best fries around (Belgium style)
Billy's Bakery - Solid Cupcakes
Morganstern's & Big Gay Ice Cream - killer Ice Cream Shops
Schmackary's - another killer bakery

for bagels(similar to Pizza here) just about any place that manages to stay open longer than 2 months should have good Bagels/bialy's..but if you need one spot, I'd recommend..Kossar's(they have Babka too!)

Most of the Phlegms are still there. The one on the red wall is in Chelsea(446 W 17th St), the giraffe is in the Bushwick Collective(385 Troutman st), and the other red wall with the characters in boxes is also still there but further down in Brooklyn(avenue U & East 28th).

I tried a few recommended pizza places on a recent trip to NY and tried Joe's (Carmine St) and John's of Bleeker.
Maybe expectations were too high, but I found those lacking. Or it was that we first tried Di Fara (Brooklyn right near Avenue J stop) and Di Fara was just that much better.

Joe’s popular with tourists because it was in the Spider-Man movie and the celeb sightings, but otherwise nothing special in my view.

I was in Manhattan last Wednesday for the day. Beautiful day...although all the smokers walking the streets were disgusting. Didn’t have time to site see. Had some ok pizza near Grand Central (Previtis I think it was called). I have not found killer pizza in NYC yet. Also, La Guardia sucks.

NYC has some beautiful libraries.

That place I went to last Wed had a 4.4 or 4.5 on google or yelp...can’t remember. Pretty damn mediocre pizza.

I’ve found better pizza here: http://www.joeyshouseofpizza.com
