VPN info or suggestions?

I don't walk around with a tin foil hat on, but I don't necessarily want my ISP selling all of my browsing data to whoever wants it.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions regarding the benefits/drawbacks of VPN's and perhaps any suggestions for specific VPN's to subscribe to.

I like Windscribe. 50GB free every month. Sign up through their webpage and use voucher code "50GBFREE". Couldn't be simpler.

Depends on what's important to you. This is a good guide to help you decide:

NordVPN does the trick for me.

That's an informative chart. Where does setting up your own VPN with your own server fall in terms of speed/privacy vs a paid service? I like the idea of blinding my ISP but I'm also a diy kind of person.

Don't forget to do a VPN on your mobile devices - phones & tables. I use PIA - a year subscription for protecting 5 devices was something like $30. Well worth it.

Thanks for that link, a great resource. I haven't gone through all of them, but I'm leaning towards SecureVPN.to and oVPN.to.

That being said, I ended up going for Windscribe for the lifetime subscription and it seems to check off most, if not all, of my wants.

I have always believed a VPN gets me the internet speed of the VPN server and thus I lose my internet speeds. Is this correct?

Kinda defeats the purpose of having super fast internet then!

I signed up for this anyways, and it seems to work great. Will use as needed :)

Great thread, thanks!

So far I'm leaning towards Cryptic VPN or private internet access.

Any other suggestions?

I also signed up for the 50 free windscribe and it's working well so far. Pretty decent transfer speeds for a free vpn I feel. Good stuff!
