Kodi-Open source media player
Yea firestick with Kodi was the best $40 investment I ever made. No monthly tv fees anymore makes me happy.
Definitely use the most recent youtube tutorial because I got mine when the new Alexa remote came out and it took me a minute to find a video for the new 2.0 software.
Now the problem is choice anxiety with a million things to watch I have trouble deciding. #firstworldproblems

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately...
also thinking about cutting cable and firestick with Kodi was my plan . . . my big question is DVRing? I barely ever watch live tv (expect sports here and there); I DVR a ton and watch in blocks. Are you all using a TiVo or something similar or does Kodi have dvr'ing abilities?

My smart TV came with the Kodi app. Nothing better than Exodus.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's this fire TV and fire stick you're all talking about? I have an android media player (box) with kodi installed. Same thing?
Do you guys use a VPN? Is it required?

Literally able to potentially capture every live sport being broadcast worldwide. No guarantee on quality though, just a matter of what streams are available.phishstix101 wrote:Are you able to watch live baseball?

ah, right, that makes sense. I don't know why I was thinking of it as a "live" stream only.thescofieldkid wrote:No need to DVR, everything's there for the taking commercial free.hunterjax wrote:also thinking about cutting cable and firestick with Kodi was my plan . . . my big question is DVRing? Will kodi work with the 1st generation Firestick?
Got any deets on doing this?ToonKiller wrote:Got the Fire tv HD in Nov. cut Direct TV off in Dec
I suggest looking into backing up whatever build your using. I messed my box up clicking to fast, luckily I bought my kids the same box for Christmas and was able to transfer the build back onto mine.

Yep. I got a cheap android box with Kodi on there. And Exodus, Phoenix and a few more. Don't use a VPN, so I am not using it for new shows and films. I just found a few apps like DIY network as my GF loves renovation shows. It is frustrating with some though as it loops through the sites and can't find a stream for some things. I use TRAKT.TV to load things into a watch list.
Put them on my phone a few weeks ago, and cast to my tv at home with Chromecast. Have a Firestick upstairs in my bedroom, just haven't used it there yet. Dig it immensely, but not going to cancel cable. Noticed this morning it updated recently also. Went to watch a couple Communitys, and errything looked different.
