I thought this might be an interesting thread to see what EB members are currently into and maybe help share some good books.

I just finished Riders on the storm : my life with Jim Morrison and the Doors by John Densmore which was pretty good. A lot of guilt by Densmore over Jim's demise, but Jim was a total alcoholic as evidence by John's book.

I'm currently enjoying Inside out : a personal history of Pink Floyd by Nick Mason. Floyd apparently kind of just fell into the whole psychedelic wave as it swelled and rode it to greatness (obviously). I'm up to the recording and touring for "Animals." So far, very well written and the book is huge to hold with tons of great rare band pics. The pic of Syd in 1975 is messed up and sad. He just showed up in the studio, uninvited, during the recording of "Wish You Were Here" - how eerily appropriate.

Anyway, next up is Into the wild by Jon Krakauer. I read a Sean Penn interview (director of the soon to be released movie) and it sounds like it's going to be an amazing read. True story.

So fellow EBers what are you reading?

Just finished reading the Ender and Shadow series by Orson Scott Card (for, like, the 4th time)
Currently reading one by a guy who diagnoses the cause of death of famous people through history - Akhenaton, Richard III, Joan of Arc, Napoleon etc
After that, I'm all outta books
...but I'm open to suggestions :)

Nice fave their comic - I love those books as well and can re-read the whole set (both Ender and Bean sides) about every 2 years for full enjoyment.

I'm actually just about to finish off the 3rd book of Narnia - haven't picked them up since I was about 11 or so (and am now 33) but since one of the girls has expressed interest in them, I need the refresher.
Then it'll be a recap of the Dark Materials trilogy to prep for the film version of The Golden Compass in December. My girl is just about to finish them off and then I can read 'em again.
Let's see... then been thinking about doing the uncut version of King's The Stand since it's been a few years. And I've got a few Card books (the last 2 or 3) to read. And a rehash of his "Alvin Maker" books since I haven't read those in 10-15 years. There's a few others in the waiting stack as well - don't recall but I think I'm about 6 or so in the queue. Should keep me busy till the end of the year.

I just finished The Road by Cormac McCarthy. A post-apocalypse novel that's seriously depressing. Before that, Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan, which is set in Burma.
My all time favourite author is Ian Rankin and I have big collection of his stuff.

I started The Stand right after reading King's IT (great book BTW) then I got distracted and had to return it unfinished to the library. So I bought it a couple months ago and it's sitting on my bookshelf. I gotta get back to finish that one.

Me, too. Pretty interesting. Recently finished Shakey by Jimmy McDonough - the definitive authorized biography of Neil Young. Amazing detail. Made me like him even more. (Heh, heh, heh...)
For work I'm reading Addiction in Human Development by Jacqueline Wallen and Deculturalization and the Struggle for Equality by Joel Spring. Gotta keep current.
And of course an art book - Ike Taiga and Tokuyama Gyokuran - Japanese Masters of the Brush by Felice Fischer and Kyoko Kinoshita. Look at the pictures more than read the text.
For anyone who has kids that are reluctant readers I highly recommend The Invention of Hugo Cabret by Brian Selznick. It's a graphic novel your kids won't be able to put down - even those that hate to read. And anything by Peter Sis.

I'm inbetween books at the moment, catching up on a music zine I get called Pee Zine....interviews and reviews of punk and hardcore bands.

If anyone is looking for a fun read, check out some Matthew Reilly stuff. Aussie author who writes action/adventure stories. They're just like watching a movie....check out some of the Scarecrow books for a good introduction.

You've gotta make that happen. And it needs to be the uncut version (an extra 300 pages or so, but oh so much better). For me, it's just King at his philisophical and religious prime - only other stuff that comes close are the Dark Tower books. I've even got a few pages marked in my copy for their sociological thought - they just came up that much in high school and college.

On other notes, I can't consider that I'm ever "reading" an art book - they're just always there. I pick up really every modern gigposter artist book that I can, more for reference than anything I guess but still...
