is there any creative or deep thinking books anyone could recommend?
the Penguin re-issue covers have been great, but that's maybe the best one I've seen.

The Thorn Birds by Colleen Mccullough. Saw this book on my parents bookcase my whole life, then found one in the free bin at my library last week. Fantastic. En Zedders and Australians galore!
Also just finished Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Just amazing. Put me in epic stories mode...

Funny, I read Eye of the Needle years ago and loved it. So when Pillars came across my desk, I figured I'd give it a try. But it's really nothing like Eye at all! I was pleasantly surprised.hunterjax wrote:Pillars of the Earth is peak Follett; I'd say skip the sequelearlgreytoast wrote:The Thorn Birds by Colleen Mccullough. I've heard from others that the sequel isn't as good, but I will probably dive in in the fall or winter. Also, Pillars was made into a miniseries - gonna have to dial that in sometime.

yeah, had high hopes for the mini series, but I don't think I made it through the first 2 hours . . .earlgreytoast wrote:Funny, I read Eye of the Needle years ago and loved it. Triple is more in line with Eye of the Needle and also great. He's got a lot of clunkers, but those three (and maybe The Key to Rebecca) are pretty fantastic.
