Jesus, I'm so sorry to hear this. I would be beside myself. I hate this kid so much and I don't even know him. I hope something bad happens to him. I'm sure it will.

No, that is not the person responsible. I have no idea who that is.

guidovt wrote:Things are looking up, I have a series of text messages from him today that pretty much implicates him as the culprit. Not sure I will ever get my posters back but it sure looks like like a B&E and Grand Larceny for this moron. I'd obviously rather have my stuff back but I guess this is the next best thing.

Luckily, everything that was too big to fit in the Itoya portfolios (18x24) was not taken, not sure why as they were in the same room just in a large folding white cardboard type file + I moved my Great Went Robot to friends house on a whim, Corey has 5 or 6 of my BEST prints and my Gorge 99, UIC 98, Atlanta 99 are still with the frame shop in FL. So he really made off with the 'worst' of my collection. The #1s are just not replaceable so that really stings the most. Everything else I can replace I, just a matter of money. I was in the process of getting renters insurance but was having trouble because of the value of my art collection. Guess I should have just paid the insane premium.

Everyone in Denver please be on the lookout for the following prints (and Burlington VT as well, it's possible he shipped the portfolios there since he is from there as is Phish and he probably thinks it will be easier to sell there plus he doesn't have the evidence on him. He wouldn't have shipped the framed prints because of cost I would assume, so let's hope the police find them at his house and we can then figure our where the rest went. I am definitely missing some additional prints but I need to really go through my online purchase records as I only update my database every so often (which is why some of the #s are missing as well). If anyone sees any of these prints please contact me or the Westminster CO Police Department.

The two bold prints were framed. The prints in italics are ones that really meant a lot to me and obviously the #1s are not replaceable.

Geisha Beetle 12 Pollock 18/100 $46
Geisha Beetle 12 Pollock 19/100 $46

Total $9,373.71 which does not include any value for the various #1s. Grand larceny is $10,000 theft or more so I'll have to figure to something out. I don't want to lie about anything and the value of the #1s clearly pushes this past $10k. For example Spring Construction #1/600 + some of the prints that never come up for sale and thus have a low average price (the old Masthay's, the Bass Bomb.) Anyways, the goal here is to get these items back--- any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Guido

Good news! Trying to figure out how to to a 'strike through'; found a portion of the missing prints in with another group of prints. Unfortunately they are are not the prints that hurt the most but at least it's not quite as bad. I will make a new list ASAP and get it posted. I'd like to be able to edit to old posts and strike through the prints I found as to not cause any confusion. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Guido

P.S. Also got my Tree of Life finished at the frame shop:

Great news, ALL of my posters were recovered and the person that stole them arrested!

Well here is a quick synopsis of what happened:

I notified Corey at Furthur Frames of the theft and he contacted some local stores he knew and alerted them of what had happened (this was a few weeks ago). One of the people he notified, Bryce at Poster Scene in Boulder, had a customer enter his store on Wednesday with a portfolio containing numerous Pollock #1s and he realized these were the stolen prints. He offered the kid $1,000 for the portfolio to which Brent responded he wouldn't take less than $5,000 (for the single portfolio). He also got 54 photos of the prints and multiple photos of Brent with the prints; this was the key to having the police be able to set him up-- without those photos everything was still hearsay (Bryce you are a genius!). At this point, I was alerted as to what was going on by Corey, Bryce and the WPD. Bryce called Brent back and said he was interested in the some of the prints in the portfolio and anything else he had for sale. The police 'sting' was set for 10am today and Brent showed up with the framed Boston 03 and at least one of the portfolios. The police took him into custody at which point he brought them to his house and returned everything that was stolen. They processed him and released him pending charges, depending on the total value he will be charged differently. All of the prints are at WPD as evidence, they are photographing them and I will be able to get them back early next week.

I can't thank Bryce, Corey, all of you at PP.com and the WPD enough for helping me recover my collection. If you live in the Denver area you should realize that Poster Scene in Boulder and Furthur Frames in Denver are good people and if you are in the market for prints or AMAZING frame work then I can't recommend them enough. I would have given this recommendation even if all of this hadn't happened but this just solidifies that these are good people who went out of their way to help someone when there was nothing in it for them. They spent their time and effort to help a fellow human, and that is extremely beautiful to me. Thank you each from the bottom of my heart.

I really never thought that I would get my stuff back so I am just so happy right now.

Thanks again everyone,
Guido

EDIT: I forgot to thank everyone here at EB.com for their help as well. Thank you!

Congrats!

If it's not out of line to ask in here, please post a photo of this Brent guy and his last name so the rest of know who he is? If you can't, I get it, but I wouldn't wish what happened to you on anyone.

Seriously, though, good on you for getting it worked out!

Wow... So sorry.
My place was broken into while I was at AC run a couple weeks ago. Luckily none of my collection (can hardly call it that compared to yours) wasn't touched. All the douche took was my PS3 and PS3 games and my old laptop. Although really weird and a complete mystery, I can't imagine dealing with what you've got going on. Hopefully you can at least recoup cost but and fuckwad (junkie?) goes to jail for a while, but man, what a drymounting loss. Again, so sorry.
