Gave this to my wife on Christmas morning...it was sitting near the tree and she didn't even see it for like 15 minutes! I was trying to think of what color I wanted to use for the border, and like a bolt of lightning, the idea for what I did came to me. Almost all of the newsprint decoupage is from various business sections...

Absolutely loved this piece from the moment I saw it. My first Johnsen, and not my last...he included a nice little hand-written note and some handbills with the print. Love the personal touch. Thanks Zach!

The next series of prints in the 'Acid Series'..... (If only I was back in Melbourne, I'd be first in line at this exhibition)

Acid Over Easy at Backwoods Gallery

I am pleased to announce my first ever international solo show at Backwoods Gallery in Melbourne, Australia this february 18th. The exhibition is titled "Acid Over Easy" and is a continuation of my explosive 2008 "Acid in the Ice Cream" show in Portland, Oregon.

PRESS RELEASE:
Acid Over Easy is a frenetic show of new works on paper exploring a break in habits of everyday man and woman. Artist Zach Johnsen presents all new drawings in graphite and watercolor of human forms in moments of suspended movement and anxiety .. capturing continuous explosive moments on one piece of paper.

Acid Over Easy is a world of 9 to 5ers in moments of pure revelation. It is a real estate agent confronted by spirits that just became visible. It is hidden energies that tug at the back of the neck. It is psychadelic purple drink in the water cooler. It is sudden moments of inspiration. It is the catalyst that makes time stand still for a moment. It is getting in touch with nature for the first time. It is the realization that the monotonous routines of day to day living isn’t all there is to experience.. that there is so much power within ourselves and all around us just waiting for us to notice….

The Acid trip continues…

Managed to purchase a piece from Zachs current exhibition

Really excited as some works had already sold out but luckily the one artwork I really wanted was still available:
Absolute Citrus.JPG
There goes lunch money for a few weeks!(Oh how I wish the american dollar was stronger!)

There is a buyers catalog available from the Gallery on request.

I can also email a copy if anyone is interested.

Mods and the infamous Mr Automator, can we have additions to Zach Johnsens portfolio for 'Rainbow Road' and his "Acid Over Easy" works?
