According to Harry, this was his first poster for BGP! Hell of a job IMO!

What a line up. This must have been one hell of a show.

I think this show is floating around somewhere. If anyone has it, please share. I'd love to hear these bands in their prime.

I was there. the RHCP kicked ass. they opened their set by descending upside down from cables, and had 6 foot flames shooting out of construction helmets.
I was already into Nirvana, and they were awesome on stage. and I remember there was a buzz about this Pearl Jam band that was playing, but 75% of the crowd never heard of them.
I too would like a tape if anyone digs one up.

none of the BGP posters are screen prints
Doug, obviously you are in the know when it comes to Bill Graham Productions, do you work there? When BGP commissions a poster, I understand the reason not to silkscreen is financial, but do the artist retain any rights to the image? Could they issue a artist ed in a silkscreen? There have been so many great images over the years for BGP that would make great silkscreens.itsdug wrote:none of the BGP posters are screen prints
Nope...sabotage wrote:regrets?turnJBup wrote:Went to The Dead instead that night....
Only GD New Years show I was able to see....
Anthony Kietas can't sing live and I was never into Nirvana, so...
My girlfriend went with a bunch of our friends. She said it was great.
My best friend saw The Cramps that night.... lots to do that 12/31.
I was trying to think what I would have done back then. At the time i was diggin' on RHCP, PJ and Nirvana, but I would have probably been in the Fatty Zone over in Oakland. These days I'd opt for the Cow Palace show.turnJBup wrote:Nope...sabotage wrote:regrets?turnJBup wrote:Went to The Dead instead that night....

i did work there untl last week! i found a new home and stoked about the new line of posters i'll be seeing.sabotage wrote:Doug, obviously you are in the know when it comes to Bill Graham Productions, do you work there? as far as the financial decision to do lithos instead of screen prints is true. remember these posters are given away at the end of the show. as far as the image goes, it's my understanding BGP, SFX, Clear Channel, Live Nation(pick one) or Wolfgangs owns the image. the artist is paid a small fee, given 50 posters and that's it.
i was looking at a bunch of nicely framed Warfield posters today, and having a conversation about how cool some of them would be if they were screenprints. mostly the Chris Shaw posters. his stuff rocks!
