Ralph Steadman has released a third edition of his Vintage Dr. Gonzo print.
This edition was included in the Tim Ferriss Holiday MegaBox which cost $5000 and was guaranteed to arrive before 12/25/2014. The initial 1000 offered sold out and an unknown number of additional boxes were offered on top of that so there are at least 1000 of this third edition floating around. An exact number isn't currently known since this edition was not numbered by Ralph.
It's 8" x 15" and signed in pencil by Ralph, only. The technique used to create this edition is currently unknown. I contacted Joe Petro III (he created the original four color silkscreen in 1995) and he said "The print looks like a digital print from the original limited edition silkscreen done years ago. Digital prints of original prints should never be done, that is why it was a limited edition. I did not have anything to do with the digital print."
Here's some more info about what exactly came in the box for 5k: http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/ ... eveal.html ~ http://totalstart.com/tim-ferriss-megabox-unboxing/
Video of the Steadman print being opened: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvCsO83 ... u.be&t=308
One sold on Ebay on 12/26/2014 for $525 and there is currently a second one listed.
I'll upload the pictures I have of this edition to the original entry, please point them to the third edition.

Also, since this new edition is out, I figured now was as good a time as any to compile/list the different versions. The first edition of 500 has been sold out since 2005; they were available only direct from Ralph Steadman and were originally $500 and eventually $750.
in 2006 Ralph did a smaller sized, one color edition of 700, called 'Meejay Dr. Gonzo'. These sold originally for $100 and rose to $150 before selling out.
First edition

I don't know why he doesn't just do an open edition that looks different then the 1st 3, I'm sure he'd make a nice buck. It's an iconic image, even non print collectors would be buying them up.
I'd be willing to pay 50 - 100 bucks for an open edition Steadman. Of course I would like one with the colored shirt, but I don't have that kind of cash laying around & if I did this probably wouldn't be my 1st ISO that I would spend that kind of cash on but non the less it would nice to own.

Common sense, is not that common
