This should be a 1 hour timed edition. :)

Question: The frame moulding is 2.5" and my framer want's to go bigger on the mat...do you think the 4" border is too big? I've never done anything with that much mat...seems like overkill but when I mocked it up in it still looks okay I suppose. I've been staring at it too long and can't decide. :?

I'd have a look on page 13 and then maybe ask bluecow the measurements of his copy, the biggest print i have is a seabury sympathy for the devil (40"x18") and has a 2" moulding with 2.5" exposed matt, stampede is slightly bigger and maybe does lend itself to the increase by 0.5" , i am sure peacedog could help as well
art is the only justification for pain :)

My Stampede frame is 2" on each side as well as the mat, so the final space around the print is 4" on each side (not floated). Your setup sounds like it's going to be at least 5" on each side which I think might be too much.

It'll be about 2.5 for the frame and 3.75 exposed mat so 6.25 total. Seems a bit much...

Example of transporting oversized prints to the framers:

Flattened and ready to go...

I'd shoot for between 4" and 4.5" total. This print, like most Keyes prints, has lots of white space, so you don't really need a super thick mat/frame to compensate.

I think your mockup looks great. My framer always tells me to make sure the matting is a different width than the frame.....you could minimize the matting by at least .5 inch which would save a few bucks on the glass as well...museum glass has got to be spendy for that monster

Thanks! Decided on a 3" mat a while back....the frame is in but the framer is a week behind and won't get to it until next week :hanging: The suspense it killing me.

Stampede - Went with a double mat set up - with a 4mm inner black mat and a 70mm white mat with simple white timber frame and conservation glass.
