800 was a mounted print in questionable condition I think. This one's a low # I would've thought around 3K but someone wanted it on the wall. What's an extra grand if you got itdmm8878 wrote:Good point. Still crazy that this was an $800 print just two years ago, considering it was made in 2000. Serious spike in certain Pollocks lately. Bit of a head scratcher.stuckeyc wrote:It is crazy but not as crazy people selling rift prints for 10k or handbills for 3k+ imo.

Pretty nuts that it sold for that much in that condition. I shouldn't be all that surprised though. It's Jim's best work, IMHO. Just an amazing execution of his style.kansasbbq wrote:2K for a poster with 11 holes in it. Wow!

We must be coming up on the 20th anniversary of the release of the Astron. Anyone know when in the summer of 2000 this beauty was sent out into the world?

Not sure but I kick myself every time I see an old Schvice laying around & seeing that print for dirt cheap. I know Astron isn't for a show but it's one of my favorite's of Jim's. It's nice that Bottleneck released a variant of the original so I might actually be able to afford one of those. I almost went for the set of 6 but for the first time I didn't have the funds to buy any of them. Sucks but I'm sure these will be floating on ebay for a while. The drop was actually not that bad but considering the size of the run. I thought they were going to go a lot faster
Common sense, is not that common

Same here, when my Doniac Schvice t-shirt arrived from Dry Goods. I have all of the Summer 1996 - Fall 2000 newsletters. What a trip down memory lane that was.

Yeah, serious coin. But if you're in the market for a 1.0 Pollock and didn't hit any of the handful of shows he did prints for, you really can't go wrong with the Astron. It's the show everyone and no one attended, lol.
