What is so special about this auction that this print set a new high sale $355.50? There are more on ebay with a lower buy it now. Are the higher # prints going for more because of the different paper that was used at the end of the run?

I have serious doubt in this auction. $355, really? I've seen it for much, much lower. FAKE.AOXOMOXOA wrote:What is so special about this auction that this print set a new high sale $355.50? pay via paypal, use credit card, file dispute at the 20 day mark if suspicious. don't deal with noobs. don't trade with noobs. request feedback ahead of time. there are lots of good people 'round here.
I've heard that higher number prints have more vivid colors. Road appears brown in most, but a small amount towards the end of the run the road appears black and the colors are brighter. This was said to be due to hand mixing of the inks. The auction that went for 355 is high numbered and clearly has the black road. The people who were bidding on this obviously knew that.
I would say a good 90% of the ones I saw on ebay have the brown road. I would also say this puts the black road and more vivid color version in a much lower percentile and thus the price is about right, especially considering ink quality from one to the next has always put a premium on Pollock prints.
I'm figuring the colors were remixed after paper ran out the first time at around 800 like stated earlier in the thread.
This same phenomenon can be seen on the 8 Pollock prints also. The ones with the more vivid colors look WAY better than the ones with less vivid colors and again for some reason were higher numbered.

Why??
There was another MSG Pollock # 809 that sold last night for $355.50
Looks like the higher #'s are getting a premium dollar.

I also believe it was shill bidding.
Arent the prints #'s 900-1000 and 1001-1100 on different paper than the ones #'d 1-899? I could see these possibly selling for more.
