Since Garcia is looking almost straight ahead, It might be more correct to say on my poster the lighting on Jerry Garcias face is coming from the left side of the poster since the shadow of his nose is on the right side of the poster.
My poster matches the postcard & poster example on Wolfgang's Vault

Grateful Dead Postcard from Oct 21, 1966 - Oct 23, 1966 - BG032-PC
Grateful Dead Poster from Oct 21, 1966 - Oct 23, 1966 - BG032-PO
sixtiesposters.com shows a example with the light coming from the right side of the poster.

What obviously happened was the negative was flipped on the two different printings. This can also be seen in the fact that Garcias coat is buttoned on his right when his nose shadow is on the opposite side. In the other poster his coat is buttoned on the opposite side. Not being a fashion horse, but if I remember right men's coats button on the right, and women's coats button on the left.
If this is correct the photo with the nose shadow on the right side of the poster is correct for the original picture.

Since Wolfgang's Vault is Bill Graham Presents archives, and their poster matches mine, then I will have to believe the nose shadow on the right side of the poster is correct. That only leaves the question what was the sixtiesposters.com poster picture of ?
Did you ever feel like the little boy who lost his chewing gum in the chicken coup, and trying to figure out which piece of stuff on the floor is it.

Bill Sagan (Former CEO of EBP) of Minnetonka, Minnesota bought the Bill Graham Presents archives and has organized hundreds of millions of dollars' worth of merchandise and video/audio recordings of concerts collected by Graham. Sagan is now selling some of the collection at Wolfgang's Vault referring to Graham's childhood nickname.
