Its more of a play on a traditional celtic brooch, turned into Q. This sort of thing:aahnutz wrote:It's a Q using Celtic design.bysleightofhand wrote:what's the image about? The inks look cool on it
With a touch of the Book of Kells (these guys were the real masters of metallic inks, around 800 AD):
And a Guinnes type vibe with the black and gold background.
Perfect Irish QOTSA poster.
Evilittlegoat is spot on though the actual design is based more specificaly on the Tara Brooch which is one of the most famous pieces of jewelry in the world, and is housed in Dublin. I always thought it looked like a capital Q.evillittlegoat wrote:Its more of a play on a traditional celtic brooch, turned into Q. Perfect Irish QOTSA poster.
As far as the book of Kells the hand applied inks used were black, red, purple and yellow, close enough to the CMYK used in modern printing. All the metallics were hand applied gilt.
The Guinness vibe is definitely there though everything in Dublin seems to be based on black and gold and thats more what i was refering to. To me this poster feels like being in Dublin.
Alright, enough with the history lesson. Posters will be available from me after the shows and i will be editioning them this weekend. I will post specific info then.
Right now i'm compiling a list so if your interested please email alanhynes@yahoo.com.
Thanks for all the positive feedback and remember Más cam nó díreach an ród, 's é an bothar mór an t-aicearra.
