According to someone that works at prints on wood, this run is going to be around 300. He didn't have the exact number on hand. Thought more of these puppies would sell...

When it's an open run, it's harder to flip. And it's 9x12, making it less flippable, hence less people buying it than a normal Emek drop.

was a little disappointed to see it was a giclee and not a screen print but it's still super nice in hand, especially with the custom frame.

After receiving my first purchase from Prints on Wood I was pretty disappointed in the quality of the piece (giclee on wood looked fuzzy to me) which is why I haven't bought anything from them since. That's why I didn't go for this one. Hopefully their quality has gone up.

I'd say they did a damn fine job printing this one. Also happy I chose the framed version.

Looks good to me. Kinda tired of people complaining about giclees. Some are better than others, yes, but drymount me.

It wasn't the giclee that was the problem for me. It was the ink soaking into the wood grain making the image look fuzzy. This was a few years back so hopefully they fixed the problem

I love giclees that are made properly using proper inks and medium. like you point out, they are not all the same (neither are all silkscreens, block prints, etc.)

I'm surprised at that low a number too.

Open editions can still flip well - I think it all depends on the artist and the art. Mondo's Mad Max from last summer, and Pulp Fiction from Thanksgiving '14 are doing alright for flippers despite being large timed editions. Emek's Jelly Blossom prints from last year were 12" x 12" and are now selling for around 3x purchase price - those were a timed edition and had runs of 700 & 800. Spusta's minis seem to be doing very nicely for flippers. So I'm not sure that the size matters either (although I'm a guy).
His End of the Trail piece was a 9" x 12" print on wood as a timed edition in December '14 from Prints on Wood with an edition size of only 200 - those are selling at roughly 3x original price as well. So maybe this small edition size is because it was printed on wood? Just a guess.

Whatever the reason I'm glad I bought one - received a shipping notice, but the art has not arrived yet. Your pics look good squalie and that frame looks nice! I couldn't decide between framed or not, and eventually went unframed because I want to put it behind glass for protection.
Hope those that picked one up are happy with the purchase :pint:

Got my framed copy yesterday. My jaw dropped when I opened the package. Stunning in person
