I get where some people are coming from. I love this print, i probably would have voted this for gig print of the year had i remembered to vote, but Chuck's output lately has been very stale. I love the ladies, but there has been very little evolution to Chuck's art. We haven't really seen him testing his boundaries or experimenting with too much new. It's starting to get a bit repetitive. The people love it, and it's an extremely successful series but i think it's also necessary for artists to take risks in order to grow.

2 prints of the 30 or so releases he had in 2014? That's more of an occasional odd side project than it is a progression or evolution of his art. I'm not saying the man lacks talent, but i do see where people are coming from when they voice complaints that his output is getting repetitive. I say this as someone who loves this Black Keys print.

You know what I would do if I had $5000?
10 ladies at the same time
10 ladies at the same time
Freaks Unite!
I can understand people getting tired of the same lady theme... It will always work though.
Just a bad time to call his work stale after the Kraftwork print.
Big time new direction... Can't wait to see it.

I would guess a lot if his clients (bands) desire an iconic Sperry image and request that he do a lady.

Lazy bastard! He also had the WSP Moscoso homage and the Primus Veruca Salt - so that's four in the last couple months that didn't feature the classic ladies.
Like i said it's a successful series he's had for years and both his fans and myself love it. I'm sure its brought him a lot of success, attention, and sales. So i can understand him not wanting to shake the boat. However things like the WSP Moscoso, the Primus Veruca Salt, the Infected Mushroom and the Kraftwerk are all one-offs. I would imagine that a few of those were specifically requested by the bands. They stand alone and in my opinion aren't an attempt by Chuck to grow his art in a new direction. Well, maybe they are and he just hasn't released the next piece yet. We'll see. If Kraftwerk is the first piece of many new to come in that style it would be pretty neat to see where he takes it. Sperry is extremely talented and I guess I'd just like to see what he can do in other mediums, genres and styles.
