Probably because the Mondo/Disney fanboys didn't get exact character likenesses and a title block at the bottom. I'm more than cool with paying extra to buy artist copies via P&T but I wouldn't be shocked if the aftermarket dipped below those prices at some point. Just seems like there aren't too many fans of this piece and it's catered to the more die-hard Horkey collector, rather than the die-hard Horkey speculator.
That's a fair analysis, a title block would have made it more desirable for some. People expect TWBB and LOTR quality every time they see a horkey now, just didn't (and wouldn't) happen with this one.
People who expect TWBB and LOTR everytime are ignoring La Planete, NCB, EoD, etc...
NCB is honestly my favorite horkey outta the one's I own. TWBB variant is a close second.
I love mine too. Point is that it doesn't flip though, which means it's useless for die hard Horkey speculators.

Agreed, pretty much standard rule- if you are planning on flipping horkey, don't buy from P&T. I had every intention on keeping Remy, but once I got it, it just didnt do it for me.

So what are the thoughts on the variant? Everything I've seen does very little for me.

I like it MUCH better in person than I thought I would. I agree, from all the pics I had seen I was actually downright unimpressed with it. But in person I do like it. I still prefer the greater contrast of the regular though.

I was going to say something similar. I haven't seen it in person, but the photos make it look so . . . murky. I also didn't realize before that the paper looks so close to kraft. I'll stick with the reg.

Waiting for my reg to arrive but the variant is sweet in person! The paper stock/colour is more on par with TWBB and adds a nice subtlety 8)

Love my variant but still on the lookout for a reg.

The variant looks like it was printed on the kraft paper it was packaged in. That color is blah.

That's because it's literally printed on French Kraft paper.
