Buyers of this poster should be aware that it was indeed reprinted, as were most if not all of the other Jim Salzer posters.
As of this writing, May 11, 2013, the reprint is available along with many of the other reprints on Jim Salzer's store website.
For some reason, sellers repeatedly claim this poster was never reprinted and I've seen several sell for $250. or more lately.
I really hate to see collectors getting ripped off - please do your homework before spending big bucks.

So the pebbles is on the reprint? Anything else I need to be aware?

Yes, the common reprint is printed on very thin paper with a "pebbled" texture.
I've never seen an original so I don't know what kind of paper they were printed on or any other characteristics.
I've been asking around for years and haven't found anyone who can tell me how to tell the difference.
Let's keep working on it...

So do you think all of these sales on the chart are for the second edition? Wolfgangs vault seems to think they have a first printing. I wonder if it is safe to say that any sales after 2008 are the second edition. http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/the-doors ... 70527.html

I'm not sure why the 2008 date for the 2nd printing is posted on this site.
I don't know for a fact, but would guess that this poster got reprinted way back when the other posters were reprinted.
Who knows, maybe there has been even more than one authorized reprint of this Doors poster by Jim Salzer over the years.
Does anyone know how we go about requesting that the 2008 year be deleted (after input from others, of course)?
It seems like it is causing confusion.

What year do you think is correct? Why?

The two reasons I don't collect the old Santa Barbara posters...
There are a bazillion reprints and they are hideous anyway.

Definitely agree with you regarding the reprints; however, I do think a few of them hold some artistic value.

I have one that has the pebbled texture and the person I got it from says "i am confident that the poster is a first printing. they came in a stash of known originals and were obtained from a former employee of the venue. he assured me that all his posters were obtained before the shows. i got tickets and flyers from him as well."

Hi wi,
If you would like to do some important research on this poster you could go to Jim Salzer's website and buy one of his reprints of this Doors poster to compare to your declared original.
It would cost you approx. $30. including shipping but your findings could be invaluable to the rock poster collecting community.
The website is: http://www.salzersstore.com/. On the left side of the page, under "Category" and "Concert Posters" click on "Reprints" and you'll see this Doors poster.
By the way, the Doors reprint poster I bought recently from Salzer's was only in VG+ condition but would be satisfactory for comparison purposes regarding size, paper stock etc.
Thank you in advance in case you decide to take on this task!
