Figured I'd leave this here. I know there was speculation about the anodized versions being marked as legit by the Obey camp. They are not. Mine got flagged a few months ago and I meant to post this here but forgot...
Your item was removed because of a request we received from VeRO member Obey Giant Art, Inc. - Shepard Fairey asking us to remove the item for:

Item(s) infringes copyrights (for example, a bootleg recording of a live performance, a pirated copy of media such as software or movies, or an unlawful copy of copyrighted works such as text, paintings, or sculptures).

Ummm, didn't the mods over at the Obey forums cleared it up and said themselves they were ok to sell, even if they seemed a bit sketchy. I'll find the post when I get home.

Dunno, not on those forums.

That was via eBay, in October.

I know, but I'm saying perhaps there was some mixup, because Obey themselves said it was ok on their official forums.

I can confirm the accuracy of this statement:

Quite ambiguous, but if they were bootlegs I think you'd see something different.

FYI, obey giant doesn't have a forum let alone an official one...

Omethod's post just confirms Petecasso's statement that Shepard reached an "agreement" with him for selling his image - most likely had to forfeit the profit he made to avoid legal charges. At no point did anyone at Obey say these were legit Shepard Fairey piece's of art or what this guy did was "ok".

What are you talking about? Obey employees post on their forums all the time - relaying customer service rules, clarifying Shep's signing policy, etc. That's about as official as you can get.

And they also did not say they were not legit. So I guess they are grey market.

Just because an Obey employee posts on thegiant.org forum doesn't make it am official Obey forum.

And in regards to these bootlegs, that have been, and always will be bootlegs. They are just like the bootleg Banksy and Warhol prints you can buy at flea markets across the country.

obey does NOT have a forum.

thegiant.org is a fan site and is not owned or operated by anyone related to Obey Giant or Shepard Fairey. Shepard's employees from time to time have, and still, post there but like I said, Obey does not have any forums, let alone an official one.

This saga's never gonna end.
Does Pete have another batch to sell? If so, count me in :P
