Re: World of Whiskey
I have heard a lot of great things about Caribou. Place in N KY has a private barrel with 2 bottles left according to their website. Think I am driving down there in a bit. I was fortunate enough to grab some when it closed out here in Pa. For $32. It is not a private selection, but still Single Ba...

Re: World of Whiskey
Smooth Ambler bottles all of its stuff with sourced hooch with under its "Old Scout" sub-label. (I agree that they seem to get ahold of some of the best barrels that MGP puts out for the Old Scout label). I thoroughly enjoyed Contradiction Bourbon, that one's in-house. Saw "Smooth Ambler" and "Whea...

Jack Ryan Beggar's Bush. 12 Year Old Irish Whiskey. I recommend. http://www.finewineandgoodspirits.com/static/images/btl/large/000034728_A1C0_0000_R01_lrg.jpg edit: Followed it up with my first dram of Proper Twelve. Was good, but not nearly as good as the Beggar's Bush. Not all that surprising, it'...

Re: World of Whiskey
I picked up a bottle of Smooth Ambler's new wheated bourbon, Big Level, a few days ago. No sourced hooch in it. Distilled, aged, and bottled in WV. And quite good. I bought three bottles, as I was unaware it was their own juice. Opened one, returned the other two immediately. I'm a big fan of MGP. ...

Re: World of Whiskey
That Canadian Club 100% Rye is WAY more interesting as a sipper than their flagship whisky. Japanese Whisky is a treat for me too - I can't buy The Yamazaki 12YO any more, because the last time I picked it up was 2014, and it cost $45. Price wise, if I can get in around the $20, my wallet will be ha...

Re: World of Whiskey
Anybody want to recommend another nice tasting, inexpensive whiskey for me to try next? I prefer neat but don't mind opening it up with a bit of ice or water. Ever try Canadian Club 100% Rye? ($15) Weller Special Reserve? ($20) That's REALLY inexpensive for a Japanese Whisky drinker. What price ran...

500 bottles in the state including a dozen in the online store - it was $75 a year or so ago.63schoeffling wrote:found a Yamazaki 12 for $86 on Friday! Surprised it was that cheap.
Last ones I picked up (in 2014) were $45 so I figure I'm done buying that, lol.

I like Tullamore Dew, can't wait to try a rum cask finished version. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4743/25638061987_2dedae0c74.jpg ^^^^^^^^^^ Hate to say it, because I'm a big fan of Tullamore D.E.W. products in general, and a lover of aged rums, but I was disappointed with my first pour of this. ...
